The Max Kade Meeting Center is at the disposal of friendly organizations involved in German ? US American encounters. In the middle of Berlin a place for international contacts, conferences, symposiums and intercultural dialog is to be established.
In the property erected in 2002 by the German Studentenwerk it was possible, due to the donation by the Max Kade Foundation, New York, to acquire more room. This was used for the setting up of a conference area which has been given the name ?Max Kade Meeting Center?. The spacious room with light coloured wooden window frames and a parquet floor is kitted out with the most modern technology. Due to its double sided glass façade with a view of the Museumsinsel (museum island) - UNESCO-world cultural heritage - it offers a pleasant atmosphere for conferences. The connection to the infrastructure of the German Studentenwerk means that there is a comprehensive conference service. As well as the regular German Studentenwerk (DSW) committee meetings, mainly events of a German-American nature should take place here.
The Max Kade Meeting Center is located in the German Studentenwerk, in Berlin-Mitte, in the immediate vicinity of the most important political and scientific institutions: the Reichstag ? the seat of the German Bundestag (parliament), the Bundeskanzleramt (Federal Chancellery), the Federal Ministry for Education and Research, the WissenschaftsForum at theGendarmenmarkt, the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences, the Fulbright Commission, the Transatlantic Center etc. The location is also ideally located in respect of transport. Nearby are the suburban railway stations S-Bahnhof Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Straße, the Friedrichstraße suburban railway and main railway station as well the future Lehrter central station (completion in 2006).
